Who pays for what?

How the costs add up.

Care at home is financed from several sources. Your own share is limited by law.

  • Your health insurer

It pays its contribution towards needs assessment and advice, examinations and treatment, and basic care – the services under Art. 7 KLV. We are recognised by all Swiss health insurers.

  • You

You pay your canton’s patient contribution – capped per day – as well as your health insurer’s deductible (franchise) and co-payment (Selbstbehalt). We discuss services that no insurance covers with you in advance.

  • Canton and municipality

What remains after your health insurer’s contribution and your patient contribution – the so-called residual costs – is regulated by the canton. These costs are borne by the public sector, for example by your municipality of residence.

  • Supplementary insurance

Household services are paid by supplementary insurance under certain conditions. You will find the terms in your policy.
